Dubai, NFAPost: Thunder and heavy rain hit UAE on Friday morning, with Dubai and Northern Emirates with the heavy downpours.
Police force in different emirates issue safety warning and emergency alert to the residents urging motorists to be cautious and steer clear of flood prone areas.Around 4:45am, heavy showers were reported in amny parts of Dubai including DIP, Al Barsha, Nad Al Sheba, Al Qudais, Silicon Oasis, Business Bay, Jumierah Village and nearby areas.
According to a yellow and orange weather alert issued by the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology, more rain and cloudy weather is expected during the day, across the UAE.
Talking to TheNFAPost, Businessman Jabbar Kappan said it is natural that this season witness heavy rain in UAE.
“I have seen these kinds of rains in UAE since my arrival here. But we have to be cautious so that no casualties happen while rain show its fury. Residents should be very careful while going out, especially should take care of kids who go to school,” said Jabbar Kappan.
The weather authority issued alert on Thursday, that there is a chance of heavy raining on Friday. So three emirates, Ajman, Umm Ul Khuwain and Ras Al Khaima switched learning to distance mode. Some companies also provide flexible working mode on Friday. A number of schools and nurseries were expected to be closed.
Downpours are expected throughout Saturday. Many residents shared videos and photos of lightening flashes in their social media accounts.
On Thursday night, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization urged private sector employers to “apply flexible work patterns”. Abu Dhabi Police also took to social media on Thursday evening to advise motorists to take the utmost care on the emirate’s roads.
Temperatures are expected to fall – with a high of 32°C forecast in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, 33°C in Ras Al Khaimah and 30°C in Fujairah. Weather website Windy said the rain would spread to Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and parts of Dubai.
