San Francisco / New Delhi, NFAPost: Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Duo will reportedly feature a “true” foldable design instead of a dual-screen.
The information came from sources who are familiar with the company’s plans, reports Windows Central.
Microsoft has decided to switch to a more traditional foldable design with a 180-degree hinge, internal foldable screen and external cover display after a long year of hardware research and experimentation.
The tech giant began exploring single-screen foldable designs as a successor to the Surface Duo 2, the report said.
In September last year, it was reported that the upcoming Surface Duo 3 is expected to feature a similar design to Samsung’s foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 4.
A patent had revealed the design of a new Surface product. That might be the Surface Duo 3, which interestingly enough, features a design reminiscent of a foldable Samsung foldable smartphone.
Microsoft to move some ‘Teams’ features to Premium edition: Report
Microsoft is moving some ‘Microsoft Team’ features to its new more costly Premium edition like translated captions, custom Together Mode scenes and virtual appointment options.
Teams Premium has been available as a 30-day trial since last month, reports The Verge.
The tech giant revealed the changes in a licensing guide update late last month and mentioned that “some Teams features will move from Teams licenses to Teams Premium license” after the Premium edition launches fully in February.
However, after the launch of Premium, the company will keep the features in the standard Microsoft Teams service for 30 days.
“After the 30-day grace period, users will lose access to features previously available in Teams without the Teams Premium add-on, unless the admin purchases and assigns Teams Premium licenses for their users,” explained Microsoft in its licensing update.
The Premium offers artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smart features such as live translations, custom meeting branding and advanced meeting protections.
Moreover, the add-on will give businesses the choice to prevent users from recording meetings and copying text from the meeting chat or protecting sensitive content with watermarks and labels during meetings.
Teams Premium is expected to be priced at $10 per user per month, however, the full pricing will be revealed next month, the report said.
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android gets new features with Update 3
Tech giant Microsoft has announced the Android Update 3 for Teams Rooms that brings new capabilities to the video conferencing platform.
From touch-enabled displays to a collaborative workspace through interactive Whiteboard screens, the update is said to enhance the online meeting experience. Below are the details:
Interactive Whiteboard
Microsoft Whiteboard can now be used for collaborative meetings. Whiteboard sessions can be initiated from a supported display’s home screen, including unscheduled meetings.
Besides, sessions can also be started directly from an active Whiteboard by clicking ‘start meeting’, which will automatically present the screen to all the participants.
Touch screen awareness and 4K display support
Meetings on Google Teams will now be equipped with touch-enabled screens for smooth operations on supported large-screen devices. Moreover, the platform now supports a 4K resolution display.
Chat bubbles
The renewed Android version of Teams Rooms would enable users to access the in-meeting chats on their current screens.
This way, one does not have to stay in the chat space to remain updated with the messages. Chat messages will pop up as chat bubbles over the present window.
Redesigned share menu
Sharing files, multimedia, and other documents will now be just a click away on Teams Rooms. The ‘Share’ option in the meeting will instantly show all the content available on the device in a compiled form.
