Centre of Excellence by Cyber-verse in Mysuru to help Karnataka bolster its cyber security capability
Cyberverse, located at Mysuru, will provide capacity building, training and R&D in the field of cyber security domain in Karnataka
Bengaluru: As part of bolstering cyber security capabilities in the state, Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan unveiled the logo and website of Cyberverse, a centre of excellence (CoE) for cyber security set up by Bherunda Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundation in partnership with Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) on Thursday.
Speaking on this occasion, Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan said that the KDEM was supporting this initiative, with the objective of promoting the Mysuru cluster as a cyber security hub.
“The Cyberverse will provide capacity building, training and R&D in the field of cyber security domain to create a talent pool in the state so that Karnataka can carve as the country’s epicenter for cybersecurity talent, innovation, and research,” said Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan.
Besides Bherunda Foundation, Cyberverse is set up ISAC, and MYRA School of Business. KDEM is supporting in this initiative, with an objective of promoting the Mysuru cluster as a cyber security hub.
The CoE of Cyberverse in Mysuru spread over about 4,000 sq. ft area with a Phygital Labs can train 50 students hands-on, in more than 200 cyber-security scenarios and themes related to practical applicability, SOC simulator and virtual labs.
His Highness Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, member of the erstwhile royal family said synergising the efforts of Bherunda Foundation is to strengthen the Government of Karnataka’s Beyond Bengaluru initiative.
“Through the Center for Excellence in Cyber Security, we aim to create a sustainable and growth-driving ecosystem, wherein a business can transcend their ideas to reality, and catalyse entrepreneur success,” said His Highness Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
Besides Hyacinth platform – for attack & defense simulation in cyberspace, the CoE will also have malware repository that includes more than 1.5 million malware available for the startup ecosystem to test the robustness of their products and services and policy & research wing to focus on developing various policies based on cyber security.
Cyberverse Chairman Her Highness Trishika Kumari Wadiyar said the Cyber-verse will facilitate in building an innovation ecosystem emanating from the Mysuru cluster with wide reachability, adopting the best global practices.
“The COE for cyber security at Mysuru will help the state pioneer the Cybersecurity transformation in the country,” said Cyberverse Chairman Her Highness Trishika Kumari Wadiyar.
Speaking at the event, KDEM Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Gupta said it is a watershed moment for KDEM when one of its Beyond Bengaluru clusters has highlighted innovation capabilities as per global standards.
“Together with the collaboration of industry leaders, think tanks, and GoK, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission with a mission of taking industries beyond Bengaluru- through the clusters and developing the Mysuru hub as the key powerhouse for the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape,” said KDEM Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Gupta.
Bherunda Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundation is a not for profit company under the leadership of Mysuru Wadiyar family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife and Chairman Cyberverse Trishikha Kumari.
Besides KDEM Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Gupta, the event had the participation of MYRA Managing Trustee and Cyber-verse Director Kanthararaje Urs, Dean Myra School of Business Dr R Ambarish, Group Captain, Director, Cyberverse & ISAC Anand Naidu and ISAC Chief Technology Officer Karthik Verma.
