Viacom18 and Star India have officially announced their new merger with the launch of JioHotstar. The new streaming platform unifies original content, besides aggregating content from multiple platforms. This includes JioCinema, Disney+ Hotstar, Warner Bros, Discovery, NBCUniversal Peacock, HBO, and Paramount.
This mega merger makes it one of the biggest streaming services in India along with exclusive access to massive content. The platform aims to make “premium entertainment truly accessible to all Indians,” says JioHotstar CEO Kiran Mani.
JioHotstar will offer massive content to 1.4 billion Indians in 10 languages. This includes live sports, movies, and TV shows from within a single app to both Hotstar and JioCinema subscribers.
The sports section of JioHotstar will showcase all major cricket tournaments like IPL, WPL, and ICC events. Premier League, Wimbledon, and domestic leagues like Pro Kabaddi and ISL will also be streamed live on the platform.
JioHotstar introduces a host of new features, including AI-driven insights and real-time data analysis. Additionally, Live sports will feature 360 degree viewing angles, and special interest feeds with 4K streaming capability. You can subscribe for the mobile plan streaming service starting at Rs 149 for three months.
