Mahindra Aerostructures Lands Airbus H125 Helicopter Fuselage Contract

Bengaluru facility to deliver world-class aerostructures by 2027, strengthening ‘Make in India’ and India’s aerospace ecosystem

Bengaluru, NFAPost: Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL), a part of the Mahindra Group, has secured a landmark contract from Airbus Helicopters to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H125 light single-engine helicopter. The deal underscores India’s growing stature as a global aerospace manufacturing hub and builds on Mahindra’s expanding partnership with Airbus.

This new contract follows the earlier agreement signed in 2025 for the fuselage of the H130 helicopter, which is already underway at MASPL’s Bengaluru plant. To accommodate the H125 programme, the company is expanding its state-of-the-art facility. Industrialisation will begin immediately, with the first fuselage delivery slated for 2027.

“This new contract with Mahindra Aerostructures is a testament to the strong capabilities of our partners in India and our shared vision for the country’s aerospace sector,” said Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia. “Alongside the H130 fuselage work and our upcoming H125 Final Assembly Line, this milestone demonstrates our confidence in India not just as a market but as a critical hub for rotorcraft manufacturing and innovation.”

Building on Airbus-Mahindra Partnership

MASPL already supplies a range of components, sub-assemblies, and complex aerostructures for Airbus programmes globally. The addition of the H125 contract strengthens Mahindra’s position as one of Airbus’ key suppliers in Asia.

“We are delighted to partner with Airbus on its ‘Make in India’ plans,” said Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD, Mahindra Group. “This contract reinforces our long-term partnership and reflects Mahindra Group and Airbus’ role in building India’s aerospace ecosystem. At Mahindra, we are committed to supporting the Government’s initiative and look forward to deepening our collaboration with Airbus.”

India’s Growing Aerospace Footprint

For Airbus, India represents both a major market and a strategic sourcing hub. Every Airbus commercial aircraft flying today includes components manufactured in India. The company’s procurement from India has already reached $1.4 billion annually, and is set to rise as Airbus invests in local manufacturing capabilities.

In addition to sourcing, Airbus is building two major Final Assembly Lines (FALs) in India: one for the C295 military transport aircraft and another for the H125 helicopter. Together with Mahindra’s fuselage manufacturing, these investments are expected to create a robust rotorcraft ecosystem in the country.

The H125 Advantage

The H125 helicopter is the world’s best-selling single-engine rotorcraft, prized for its versatility, performance, and cost efficiency. It is deployed globally across diverse missions — from passenger transport and tourism to law enforcement, emergency medical services, and disaster relief operations.

Industry observers say that producing its fuselage in India is both a symbolic and strategic step: symbolic in demonstrating India’s rise in the aerospace value chain, and strategic in ensuring Airbus has a competitive, reliable, and high-quality manufacturing base to meet global demand.
