Bengaluru, NFAPost: Karnataka government has nominated Malavalli MLA P M Narendraswamy as Chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KPSCB).
As per a Government Order, Narendraswamy has been nominated to the post under section 4 (2) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and in accordance with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (Manner of Nomination and other Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairman and Members and appointment of Member Secretary), Rules, 2024, vide notification no. FEE 526 EPC 2024 (Part-1), with immediate effect for a period of three years or until further orders.
The nomination of Narendraswamy, who is a former Minister and close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramahiah, is seen as a political appointment. The former chairman of the board Shanth A. Thimmaiah was removed from the post last year.
Narendraswamy, a civil engineer, will look into the issues surrounding the environment, including the matters related to issuing of consents for establishing and operating industries in Karnataka.
