Bengaluru, NFAPost: Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay was conferred ACCS-CDAC Foundation award for 2021 at a ceremony at the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B).
The prestigious award is given to eminent scholars and researchers in the field of advanced computing and communications.
The award which carries a cash prize of Rs 100,000/- and a citation, was conferred on him by his teacher and mentor Prof Biswanath Chatterji in the august presence of luminaries from academic and industry at IIIT-B this morning.
The award recognises Prof. Chaudhuri for his seminal contributions in computer vision and computational photography which has led to significant industrial impact.

While receiving the award, IIT Bombay Director Prof Subhasis Chaudhuri acknowledged he is humbled by the recognition of his work by ACCS.
“Such recognition goes a long way in further motivating us into research to find technological solutions for the enrichment of human life,” said IIT Bombay Director Prof Subhasis Chaudhuri.
In his congratulatory message, C-DAC Director General Magesh Ethirajan said Prof Chaudhuri’s research contribution in computer vision has spurred many products and startups in this field in India”.

The award instituted in 2004, by ACCS and C-DAC, fosters development and dissemination of theories and applications of computing and communications sciences. ACCS-CDAC award is given to individuals with outstanding contributions and accomplishments that have had a significant and demonstrable effect on the practice of computing and communications.
