Bengaluru residents are no strangers to the infamous traffic jams and peak hour struggles to hire a taxi. Pathik Ghughare, a 22-year-old software engineer from HSR Layout, found himself in a similar situation during office hours on Thursday.
Pathik was expected to report to work and submit his laptop at the office. But he couldn’t find any transport on the ride-hailing apps. After several attempts, he came up with an unconventional idea to ship his laptop. He booked a porter service via intra-city package delivery app with a weight limit of 20 kg.
Pathik had finally found a way to send his laptop to the office. But his eureka moment arrived when the delivery partner came to collect his package. He thought of delivering himself to the office and asked the driver if he could tag along.
After a moment’s hesitation, the clueless driver agreed to his request and said, “Hop on, I’ll drop you at your office.” Upon reaching his office, Pathik even offered to pay extra for delivering him as a package in transit. But the porter refused it.
Impressed by his goodwill, Pathik tipped the man generously for a ride that turned into an memorable experience. Sharing his experience with fellow X users, he wrote, “had to porter myself to office today cuz no ola uber :(“
Several X users applauded his out-of-the-box thinking to tackle the city’s commuting woes with aplomb. Some termed it a “classic Bengaluru moment”, while others suggested tailoring work schedule to avoid peak-hour traffic.
