Apollo Cancer Centres Launch ‘CanWin’ to Empower Cancer Journeys Through Shared Stories and Support

New brand-agnostic initiative marks National Cancer Survivors Month with a compassionate community built on storytelling, resilience, and holistic healing

Bengaluru, NFAPost: In a heartfelt tribute to National Cancer Survivors Month, Apollo Cancer Centres (ACCs) today unveiled CanWin, a pioneering support initiative designed to unite individuals across the cancer care spectrum—patients, survivors, caregivers, doctors, and volunteers—through shared strength and storytelling.

More than just a support group, CanWin is envisioned as a safe, brand-agnostic platform fostering empathy, resilience, and healing. Rooted in the belief that “shared strength can change lives”, the initiative aims to humanise cancer care by integrating emotional support with medical excellence.

The launch event in Bengaluru witnessed an emotionally charged storytelling session where cancer survivors—dubbed “cancer winners”—took center stage to share deeply personal accounts of struggle, hope, and triumph. Their narratives, raw and uplifting, resonated powerfully with attendees and underscored the profound emotional resilience often overshadowed by clinical treatment.

“Winning cancer isn’t just about beating the disease—it’s about discovering a strength you never knew existed,” shared one survivor. “Our journey redefined us. It taught us gratitude, courage, and the value of community.”

Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Madhavan, President, Group Oncology & International at Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, noted: “Modern cancer care goes beyond medicine. CanWin embodies our commitment to creating healing ecosystems where empathy and science work in tandem. Storytelling becomes a therapeutic force—bridging emotional gaps and empowering both speaker and listener.”

The initiative also received strong backing from Dr. Preetham Kabbinahithlu, Joint Director of Clinical Administration, Apollo Cancer Centre, Bengaluru, who described CanWin as “a step towards humanising cancer care—not just treating the disease, but nurturing the spirit.”

Professional storyteller Prashant Pradhan, who mentored participants in sharing their journeys, added: “Storytelling gives meaning to pain. It transforms silence into shared strength. These cancer winners are not just narrating events—they’re redefining survivorship.”

With monthly meet-ups, storytelling therapy, expert-led Q&A sessions, and survivor-led workshops, CanWin will function as a comprehensive emotional wellness framework. Medical experts at the event also highlighted the growing survival rates across demographics due to early detection and precision therapies—while emphasizing the crucial role of emotional recovery in long-term outcomes.

Apollo Cancer Centres, with a pan-India presence and a robust team of over 400 oncologists, continues to deliver high-end precision oncology through an organ-based approach. This multidisciplinary model, driven by Cancer Management Teams, ensures international standards of clinical excellence with compassionate care at its core.

In a world where cancer is often seen only through the lens of medicine, CanWin reminds us that healing also begins with human connection—and that in every ‘cancer’ is a ‘can’, and in every journey, a will to win.
