Reddit suspended the subreddit ‘r/WhitePeopleTwitter’ for 72 hours, as Elon Musk accused that its users broke the law. Musk has accused the users for inciting and glorifying violence, or doxing.
Musk has reportedly taken over the US federal government with assistance of some engineers at the Department of Government Efficiency. His lack of government experience has drawn flak from critics and Reddit users alike.
A Twitter user named ‘Reddit lies’ has reportedly posted screenshots on the platform from r/WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit. The post reveals discussions around identities of Musk’s DOGE employees who assisted him in taking over the US federal government systems.
Twitter posted a message on its page confirming an interim ban on r/WhitePeopleTwitter, soon after the message went viral.
According to Engadget, the message stated, “This subreddit has been temporarily banned due to the prevalence of violent content. Inciting and glorifying violence, or doxing, is against Reddit’s platform-wide rules. It will reopen in 72 hours, during which time Reddit will support moderators and provide resources to keep Reddit a healthy place for discussion and debate”.
Recently, Reddit banned another subreddit called ‘r/IsElonDeadYet’ for violating rules on posting hate or violent content.
DOGE is working on cutting US government spending, chopping the size of the federal workforce, and boosting efficiency in bureaucracy. Trump administration nominated this taskforce and it is not part of any government wing or ministry.
Many Federal agencies have reportedly hired Musk’s aids, and Musk has claimed it is a violation of law to reveal their names in the public.
