Reliance Jio led the 4G download-speed chart at 20.1Mbps while Vodafone topped the upload speed chart at 6.7Mbps in April, as per the latest report published by the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI).
Jio and Vodafone Lead Download and Upload Speed Charts
Jio recorded nearly 3x faster download speed than its closest rival Vodafone which took the second position. Despite Vodafone recently merging with Idea Ltd., TRAI has released separate data for measuring their individual network speeds.
Consequently, Vodafone’s download rate was pegged at 7Mbps while Idea and Airtel were noticeably slower at 5.8Mbps and 5Mbps respectively.
Coming to the upload speeds, Vodafone was closely followed by Idea at 6.1Mbps while Jio recorded 4.2Mbps with Airtel finishing last at 3.9Mbps.
Computing Network Speed via MySpeed App
TRAI has reportedly computed the average individual network speeds by measuring data via MySpeed app on a real-time basis across all the local cellular operators in India.
This data could prove decisive for prospective consumers who are looking to switch their mobile network based on individual download or upload speed requirements.
