KSCA announces five league matches and a crucial playoff fixture as the city prepares for a high-voltage IPL season
Bengaluru, NFAPost: Cricket fans in Bengaluru are set for a thrilling season as the city prepares to host some of the most decisive matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), including a playoff and the grand final. The announcement was made by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), confirming that the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will stage key fixtures of the tournament.
According to KSCA secretary Santhosh Menon, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has committed to awarding Bengaluru a playoff match and the IPL final, in addition to five league-stage games.
“The play-off will be played in Bangalore. And the biggest news is the final of the IPL will also be played in Bangalore,” Menon said while confirming the development.
He added that the stadium will also host the opening ceremony of the season, though the official date is expected to be announced soon.
“This is what the BCCI has committed to us, and probably they’ll announce their schedule shortly. We’re looking forward to these announcements from the BCCI, from the Governing Council, and from Royal Challengers Bengaluru,” Menon said.
The cricketing calendar for the venue will begin with the inaugural ceremony, followed by the opening match, five league fixtures, a playoff encounter and ultimately the tournament’s title clash.
Expressing confidence in the city’s passionate fan base, Menon said the atmosphere at the stadium would once again be electric. “The RCB roar is going to echo again in the Chinnaswamy Stadium,” he remarked.
The allocation of both a playoff and the final highlights Bengaluru’s status as one of the premier venues of the IPL. With the Chinnaswamy Stadium known for its vibrant crowds and high-scoring matches, the city is expected to deliver a spectacular stage for some of the tournament’s most crucial moments this season.
