₹1.1 Million Sq. Ft. Campus Near Yelahanka Signals Deepening Karnataka Commitment and Long-Term India Strategy
Bengaluru, NFAPost: In North Bengaluru, about 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, a 1.1 million square foot corporate campus now stands as a statement of intent.
On February 23, 2026, Amazon officially inaugurated its second-largest office in Asia — a 12-floor campus spread across five acres in Vinayaka Nagara near Yelahanka, capable of accommodating more than 7,000 employees. The launch underscores not just scale, but strategy: Bengaluru remains central to Amazon’s global technology and innovation roadmap.
The inauguration was led by Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries, M. B. Patil, alongside senior Amazon leadership.
“Amazon’s continued investment in Bengaluru reflects India’s growing role as a global technology and innovation hub. Large-scale campuses like this create high-quality jobs and strengthen the local ecosystem,” Patil said.
A Long-Term India Bet
Amazon has maintained a presence in Bengaluru for over two decades. Today, the city hosts some of its earliest and most critical technology and business teams.
Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India, described India as a long-term priority.
“Bengaluru has played a central role in our journey. It remains a key hub for innovation and talent as we build for customers in India and around the world.”
The campus marks Amazon’s 10th corporate office in Karnataka — part of a broader footprint that includes seven fulfilment centres, three sort centres, more than 130 last-mile delivery stations, and micro-fulfilment centres for Amazon Now. Over 80,000 sellers from Karnataka are currently active on Amazon India.
Designed Around How Teams Actually Work
The campus reimagines traditional office design. Rather than long, anonymous corridors, work floors are arranged into self-sustaining “neighbourhoods,” each with meeting rooms, huddle spaces, focus booths and breakout zones.
Paths cut across floors to enable fluid movement and collaboration. Event spaces accommodate over 200 people, while adaptable work points allow flexibility for hybrid and team-based workflows.
The design integrates technology, ecommerce, payments, operations, seller services and leadership teams under one roof — encouraging faster decision-making and tighter cross-functional collaboration.
A Comprehensive Wellness Ecosystem
Amazon’s Bengaluru campus extends beyond desks and meeting rooms.
Outdoor amenities include an amphitheatre, basketball and pickleball courts. Indoor facilities feature a games room, wellness room, medical centre with nursing staff, and an interfaith prayer room. A two-storey cafeteria offers pan-Indian and global cuisine.
Safety has been embedded into the architecture, with widened exit passageways, integrated fire alarm systems, public address infrastructure and clearly marked pedestrian pathways.
Accessibility features — including step-free access, wide doorways, accessible bathrooms, sensory surfaces and ergonomic furniture — reinforce an inclusive workplace philosophy.
Climate-Conscious Infrastructure
The campus aligns with Amazon’s global net-zero carbon target by 2040 under The Climate Pledge. The project incorporates responsible material sourcing, reuse of office assets and high-efficiency systems aimed at reducing both embodied and operational carbon.
In a city grappling with rapid urban growth, the campus represents a model for climate-conscious corporate infrastructure.
Karnataka’s GCC and Innovation Edge
Minister Patil used the occasion to position Karnataka as India’s leading global capability centre (GCC) hub.
Nearly 35% of India’s 900 GCCs are located in the state. Bengaluru recently ranked 21st globally in the Global Innovation Index and remains the only Indian city in the top 30 of the Tech-Cities Index.
Karnataka leads in warehousing capacity for e-commerce operations, with 42.48 lakh tonnes of storage and 233 cold storage units. E-commerce transactions in the state are growing at 11% annually.
Patil also noted Amazon’s broader India investment plan — a proposed $35 billion over the next four years — expected to support 15 million small businesses nationwide.
More Than an Office
This campus is not simply real estate. It is an institutional anchor for Amazon’s India strategy.
Teams in Bengaluru build products and services used globally. The integration of engineering, business and operational functions reflects a maturing ecosystem where India is no longer merely a back-office destination, but a core innovation engine.
As India positions itself as a global digital and AI powerhouse, campuses of this scale send a clear signal: the future of work in technology will be collaborative, climate-conscious, inclusive — and deeply integrated into India’s talent ecosystem.
For Bengaluru, already India’s technology capital, Amazon’s new campus is both affirmation and ambition.
