SecurEyes Conducts Engaging Cyber Awareness Session at GEAR Innovative International School

Experts emphasize safe digital habits, real-world threat demonstrations, and cyber responsibility among students

NFAPost, Bengaluru: In an effort to build a safer digital future for young internet users, SecurEyes, one of India’s leading cybersecurity companies, conducted an interactive cyber-awareness session at GEAR Innovative International School, Bellandur, Bengaluru. The one-hour session brought together real-life examples, live demonstrations, and practical safety insights to help students better understand the risks and responsibilities of navigating the online world.

The session was led by Mr. Karmendra Kohli, CEO and Co-founder of SecurEyes, and Mr. Mrutyunjay Sahoo, Technical Manager, both of whom engaged the students through relatable storytelling and hands-on demonstrations. The initiative is part of SecurEyes’ broader mission to strengthen cyber hygiene and foster responsible digital behaviour among children and young adults.

“Be smart digital explorers, not easy targets”

Addressing the students, Mr. Karmendra Kohli stressed that early awareness is essential in an increasingly connected world.

“That’s the world we live in; a digital jungle full of games, friends, fun… and a few hidden dangers too. Today, we’ll learn how to be smart digital explorers, not easy targets,” he said, urging students to approach cybersecurity as an everyday life skill.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Mrutyunjay Sahoo noted that understanding how systems work is key to empowering young digital natives.

“Students today are digital natives, but awareness is what makes them truly secure. The more they understand how these systems work, the more responsibly they can use them,” he said.

Live Demos Leave Students Curious and Cautious

Students were highly engaged throughout the session, especially during live demonstrations such as the “Cable of Chaos” and “Hidden Risk of USB” demos. These simulations exposed how easily personal information can be compromised and how seemingly harmless devices can be used to execute cyberattacks.

Many students expressed surprise and curiosity, actively asking questions during and after the session—clear signs of heightened awareness and interest.

Practical Tips for Everyday Digital Safety

The presentation introduced key cybersecurity dos and don’ts, covering topics such as:

  • Creating and protecting strong passwords
  • Identifying phishing messages and suspicious links
  • Recognizing social engineering tricks
  • Avoiding scam calls and OTP fraud
  • Watching out for unfamiliar numbers or urgent requests

The speakers also emphasized actionable safeguards—such as establishing family codewords to verify identities during emergencies and calling back via trusted numbers when receiving suspicious messages or financial requests.

Building a Vigilant Digital Generation

SecurEyes aims to take similar sessions across schools in Bengaluru to instill a culture of digital responsibility among young learners. The session at GEAR Innovative International School successfully created awareness and encouraged students to think critically about their online choices.

With cyber risks evolving rapidly, programs like these play a crucial role in strengthening the digital confidence and resilience of the next generation.
