India–Japan STI Forum 2025: Forging New Pathways for Innovation and Sustainability

The 3rd edition of the India–Japan Science, Technology, and Innovation Forum returns to IISc Bengaluru to explore how two innovation powerhouses can co-create a sustainable future.

NFAPost, Bengaluru: Building on the success of its previous editions in India (2023) and Japan (2024), the India–Japan Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Forum is set to make a powerful comeback with its third edition, themed “Innovative Solutions for India–Japan Synergy.” The two-day conference will be held on December 4–5, 2025, at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, bringing together visionaries and changemakers from both nations to co-design strategies for a sustainable and technologically empowered future.

A joint initiative by IISc Bengaluru and Keio University, Japan, the STI Forum serves as a dynamic platform to strengthen bilateral collaboration in science, technology, and innovation. The event will unite academia, industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to explore emerging technologies and their role in addressing shared challenges—from climate change and cybersecurity to economic resilience and human capital development.

Themes for the 2025 Edition

The upcoming conference will revolve around four key themes shaping global transformation:

  1. Enabling Technologies: AI & Deep Tech – Unleashing disruptive innovations that can redefine industries and societal systems.
  2. Economic Partnerships to Shape Strategic Growth – Strengthening India–Japan collaborations to drive resilient, innovation-led economies.
  3. Co-designing a Sustainable Future – Promoting joint action to create sustainable, low-carbon, and inclusive development pathways.
  4. Skilling for Resilience and Innovation – Empowering the next generation with the skills to thrive in the digital and green economies.

The forum will feature eminent speakers including Ambassador Raj Kumar Srivastava (MEA, Government of India) and Dr. Sapna Poti (Director, Strategic Alliances, PSA Office, Government of India), along with leading scientists, technologists, and innovators from both countries.

Driving a Shared Vision

In an era of rapid technological and environmental shifts, the India–Japan partnership is poised to play a critical role in shaping global innovation ecosystems. The STI Forum not only deepens scientific collaboration but also emphasizes human-centric, sustainable technology development—where progress aligns with societal well-being and ecological balance.

The conference will delve into how emerging technologies like AI, quantum computing, robotics, and climate-tech can be co-developed to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
