The iconic American pizza brand enters India in partnership with PJP Foods India, introducing its “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.” philosophy — and a Bengaluru-exclusive Ghee Roast Pizza.
NFAPost, Bengaluru: Global pizza giant Papa Johns has officially entered the Indian market, marking its debut with four new restaurants across Bengaluru — in Indiranagar, Hennur, Electronic City, and Sarjapur Road. Operated by PJP Foods India Private Limited, a joint venture between PJP Investments Group and Ambrosia QSR, the launch signals the start of an ambitious expansion strategy for one of the world’s most recognisable pizza brands.
At the heart of the rollout is Papa Johns’ enduring promise — “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.” — now reimagined for the Indian palate. To ensure consistent quality across all outlets, the company has established a centralised Quality Control Center (QCC) in Hennur, where its signature fresh dough will be prepared daily.
Adding a local twist to its global offerings, Papa Johns India has introduced an exclusive Ghee Roast Pizza, available in both chicken and paneer variants. Inspired by South India’s beloved ghee roast preparation, the pizza combines slow-roasted spices with the rich aroma of ghee, offering a flavour experience rooted in regional authenticity.
Crafting a New Chapter in Indian Quick Service Dining
“This is a proud moment for us as we deliver the Papa Johns experience to Indian customers,” said Tapan Vaidya, Group CEO of PJP Investments Group. “Our pizzas are crafted with fresh, never-frozen dough, premium toppings, and a focus on consistent quality. We are confident this approach, combined with an experience centred on customer satisfaction, will create strong appeal in India. Bengaluru is a fitting city to begin this journey, and we look forward to expanding rapidly across the country.”
The company’s debut also featured a collaboration with actor and influencer Danish Sait, who appears in a witty, locally themed launch video that introduces Papa Johns to Indian audiences with humour and flair.
A Global Brand Rooted in Quality
“India is one of the most dynamic foodservice markets in the world, and we are delighted to open our first store in Bengaluru,” said Ravi Thanawala, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at Papa Johns International. “Opening both our first restaurant and a Quality Control Center represents a strong foundation for long-term growth and ensures we continue to deliver the highest standards of quality and service that define our brand.”
Echoing this sentiment, Vish Narain, Managing Partner of Pulsar Capital and Chairman of Ambrosia QSR, added:
“Our partnership with PJP brings Papa Johns to this thriving market with a vision to offer premium quality pizzas at accessible prices. We’ve worked to craft a menu that celebrates both global favourites and flavours that resonate deeply with Indian consumers.”
Blending Global Expertise with Local Taste
Papa Johns India’s menu combines its international bestsellers with regionally inspired innovations. Each pizza is made with fresh dough prepared from just six ingredients, tomato sauce crafted from Naati and Californian tomatoes, and real mozzarella cheese — all reflecting the brand’s uncompromising approach to quality. The popular Special Garlic Sauce, a fan favourite worldwide, also features prominently on the Indian menu.
Customers can enjoy the new offerings across dine-in and takeaway formats, with digital ordering via the app and website already in place. Delivery services are set to launch soon, further expanding the brand’s reach within the city.
A Global Legacy Enters a New Market
Founded in 1984, Papa Johns International, Inc. (Nasdaq: PZZA) has grown into the world’s third-largest pizza delivery company, with approximately 6,000 restaurants across 50 countries and territories. Known for its commitment to high-quality, fresh ingredients and a no-compromise approach to artificial additives, the brand’s arrival in India marks a significant step in its global growth strategy.
With its India launch, Papa Johns aims to not just serve pizza, but to redefine the premium pizza experience for Indian customers — one slice at a time.
