Uber Drives Luxury on the Road: Intercity Motorhomes Now Roll Out in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune

After a blockbuster pilot in Delhi NCR, Uber expands its premium caravan-style travel experience to new cities, redefining India’s long-distance road trips.

NFAPost, Bengaluru: Uber is taking the road less traveled — in luxury. Following a roaring success in Delhi NCR, the global mobility giant has announced the expansion of its Intercity Motorhomes pilot to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune, opening a new chapter in India’s evolving intercity travel market.

Beginning October 15, riders in these cities can embark on road trips in custom-designed, caravan-style Motorhomes — complete with modern amenities such as a television, microwave, mini-refrigerator, and even a lavatory. Bookings for the new cities open on October 13, while the Delhi NCR service continues until December 31, 2025.

Luxury Meets the Open Road

Launched in August this year as a limited-edition pilot, the Uber Intercity Motorhomes campaign captured the imagination of India’s travelers. Designed to promote outstation journeys via Uber Intercity, the service was fully booked throughout its initial month-long run in Delhi, recording 100% occupancy during the monsoon getaway season.

Encouraged by overwhelming demand and requests from other metro cities, Uber is now extending the experience to cater to India’s growing appetite for comfortable, private, and flexible long-distance travel.

“Uber Intercity has become a preferred choice for riders who want dependable, comfortable, and easy travel between cities,” said Shiva Shailendran, Director – Consumer Growth, Uber India and South Asia. “With the continued success of our campaign and the expansion to more cities, we’re strengthening Intercity’s position as the go-to option for long-distance travel across India.”

A Festive Season on the Move

The timing couldn’t be more strategic. The October–December quarter traditionally marks one of India’s busiest travel periods, driven by festivals, weddings, and winter vacations. With cooler weather and clearer skies, the season invites families and groups to embark on road trips — a trend that has seen strong resurgence post-pandemic.

Uber’s Intercity Motorhomes are set to cater to this surge, offering 4–5 passengers a private, lounge-like experience on wheels. Each vehicle includes a driver and a helper, ensuring comfort and convenience throughout the journey.

Seamless Tech-Enabled Journeys

As with all Uber Intercity rides, the Motorhome service can be booked in advance through Uber Reserve, allowing travelers to add stops along the route, track rides in real time, and access 24×7 live support. Due to high demand, bookings must be made at least 48 hours before departure.

Uber Intercity now connects travelers across more than 3,000 routes nationwide, combining the reliability of an app-based experience with the flexibility of long-distance travel. It has become one of India’s largest organized outstation mobility platforms, challenging the dominance of unorganized taxi operators and traditional travel agencies.

Reimagining Outstation Travel

By blending technology, safety, and premium comfort, Uber continues to reshape how Indians approach road travel. The Motorhomes initiative not only expands Uber’s service portfolio but also reflects its commitment to innovation and customer-centric mobility solutions.

“Campaigns like Intercity Motorhomes are redefining the way people think about road travel,” Shailendran added. “We’re enabling riders to enjoy the journey as much as the destination — with comfort, transparency, and convenience at the core.”
