Mumbai, NFAPost: Canon India, a leading imaging technology company, has taken a significant step towards environmental preservation with the launch of its new initiative, ‘Clean Coasts for Tomorrow.’ This campaign aims to conserve the marine ecosystem through beach cleaning drives, emphasizing the importance of protecting coastal resources and marine ecosystems, particularly among the youth of the country. In collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Canon India recently organized a cleanliness drive at Aksa Beach in Mumbai, with employees and enthusiastic youth from Parivali Village, which Canon has adopted under its ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative, actively participating in the endeavour.
As part of Canon India’s commitment to sustainable development, the company has been actively engaged in various community welfare programs aligned with its 4Es CSR policy, which focuses on Education, Eye Care, Environment, and Empowerment. By launching the ‘Clean Coasts for Tomorrow’ initiative, Canon India aims to raise awareness about the importance of keeping beaches clean and reducing plastic and marine litter.
During the cleanliness drive at Aksa Beach, Mr Manabu Yamazaki, President & CEO of Canon India, expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, stating, “Guided by our corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei,’ Canon strongly believes in contributing towards a better and sustainable environment for future generations. By spreading awareness about the significance of beach cleanliness and involving the youth from our adopted village, Parivali, we can collectively make a difference in society. Through persistent collaborative action, we will continue to bring about meaningful change and drive awareness across the country.”
‘Clean Coasts for Tomorrow’ represents Canon India’s latest effort in its longstanding dedication to environmental protection. Under the ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative, the company has previously implemented solar panels, groundwater recharge systems, and rainwater harvesting projects in village schools. Additionally, Canon India has conducted regular cleanliness drives, and tree plantations, and supported the establishment of kitchen gardens in the adopted village community. Furthermore, as part of the ‘Green Environment Together’ initiative, Canon India has planted over 30,000 trees since 2019, with a tree planted on behalf of its direct customers for each purchase of a laser copier/multi-function device (MFD).
Canon India’s CSR endeavours are driven by its corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei,’ which promotes the spirit of living and working together for the common good. The organization aims to make a positive impact on society and the environment by standing in unison and committing to community welfare programs. In addition to the ‘Adopt a Village’ project, Canon India also collaborates with SOS Children’s Village across the country to support the overall development of children in these villages.
