Sunil Shetty, the renowned actor and investor, has recently launched a food delivery app called Waayu, which aims to provide restaurants with a zero-commission model. The founders of Waayu, Anirudh Kotgire and Mandar Lande, have partnered with Shetty, who serves as the brand ambassador and investor for the app. Media reports state that the initiative is supported by the India Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR) in Mumbai.
Waayu has introduced a unique pricing structure, offering a fixed fee of Rs 1,000 per month per outlet during its introductory phase, which will later increase to Rs 2,000. The platform is currently in the process of onboarding restaurants from various regions in Mumbai, including BMC, Mira Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Palghar. Furthermore, the company has ambitious plans to expand its services to both metropolitan and non-metropolitan cities.
Additionally, Waayu is planning to integrate with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which will further enhance its capabilities and reach in the market.
