Paris Headquartered company’s Technicolor Games Division CEO Andy Emery and Vice President of Global Business Development Eric Williams continue to lead.
Bengaluru / San Francisco, NFAPost: TransPerfect, an American translation and language services company along with AI solutions for global businesses, has acquired Technicolor Games, the gaming division of Technicolor Group. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The decision comes at a time when the market is rife with Technicolor India Shut Down affecting round 3,000 employees. Also, various media quoting Technicolor Group Asia-Pacific Managing Director Biren Ghose stated that Technicolor India employees will not receive their February salaries.
TransPerfect Gaming provides comprehensive video game solutions, from pre-production to launch to player support. Its global team offers expertise in accessibility, art production, audio services, localization, marketing, quality assurance, player support, community management, and testing.
According to the company, TransPerfect will welcome all Technicolor Games India employees back into the Bangalore facility to ensure continuity of business for all clients.
Technicolor Games Division CEO Andy Emery and Vice President of Global Business Development Eric Williams will continue to lead Technicolor Games, which will operate as a division of TransPerfect Gaming. Emery and Williams will join TransPerfect’s senior leadership team.
Currently, Technicolor Games has offices in London, San Francisco, Montreal, and Bangalore, with more than 400 creative artists specialising in concept art, 3D art, animation, VFX, and cinematics. The company works with a global clientele, including Electronic Arts, Capcom, and 2K, on AAA titles such as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Hogwarts Legacy, FC25, and Street Fighter 6.

“With the support of clients, employees, and industry partners, this acquisition ensures that the legacy of Technicolor Games continues, reinforcing its reputation as a premier provider of art, animation, and VFX services to the global video game industry,” said Technicolor Games Division CEO Andy Emery.
Expressing happiness over the acquisition, TransPerfect President and Co-CEO Phil Shawe said Technicolor is a renowned brand and the gaming division has an impressive track record of producing stunning creative work.
“We warmly welcome all team members of Technicolor Games to the TransPerfect family,” said TransPerfect President and Co-CEO Phil Shawe.
While Technicolor Games has been saved from Technicolor Creative Studios’ bankruptcy filings, MPC and Mikros Animation are still on the chopping block. Technicolor Group Asia-Pacific Managing Director Biren Ghose didn’t comment to TheNFAPost queries.
Paris Headquartered Technicolor Group is renowned for its visual effects, motion graphics, and animation services across the entertainment, media, and advertising industries. The company boasts an impressive portfolio, including contributions to films like *The Lion King* and *Mufasa*, as well as popular franchises such as Harry Potter and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Several US-based studios owned by Technicolor subsidiaries, including The Mill, MPC Advertising, and Mikros Animation, are closing their doors. Technicolor Group’s Chapter 15 bankruptcy filing in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, marking another challenging chapter for the 110-year-old company. The decision comes amidst reports of significant financial struggles impacting the company. While estimates vary, Technicolor employs between 4,500 and 6,000 people, with some reports suggesting the number could be over 10,000.

When asked about the imbroglio at Technicolour, Zebu Animation Studios Creative Director Veerendra Patil said the company’s India leadership, core team and artists did a stellar job for the company.
“The current state is really terrible for the industry and for the families of the all involved , our heart goes out to them. Their artists did a wonderful job in creating works class work which is evident in the amazing shows that they have worked on, for ex., mufasha, Orion of the dark and many more.” said Zebu Animation Studios Creative Director Veerendra Patil.
Technicolor Creative Studios has four distinct operating units:
- Moving Picture Company (MPC), a global leader in VFX, animation and visualization for over 45 years. MPC involved in several projects, such as Apple TV+ documentary series Prehistoric Planet and Disney‘s 2019 remake of The Lion King.
- The Mill, a global network of award-winning VFX artists and creative technologists with decades of experiences across the advertising and branding. The Mill involved in several projects, such as the posters of the Jordan Peele film Nope.
- Mikros Animation, providing creative services for feature, long-form and short-form animation. Mikros has involved in several projects such as Paramount Animation feature film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Nickelodeon animated series Star Trek: Prodigy.
- Technicolor Games, a division that applying the best VFX, animation and technologies for video games with the collaborative approach with several game developers. The projects which Technicolor Games involved such as WWE 2K22 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction.
As of February 2025, it was reported that the UK branch of Technicolor Creative Studios had appointed administrators, and the French company had entered receivership.
