Bengaluru, NFAPost: State-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will export its flagship Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH Mk-III) Dhruv to Mauritius police force.
“We have signed a contract with the Mauritius government to export one ALH for its police force,” said the city-based defence behemoth in a statement on Wednesday. The Indian Ocean-island nation operates a ALH and a Dornier-228 turboprop aircraft built by HAL.
The contract was signed recently by HAL helicopter division general manager B.K. Tripathy and Mauritius’ home affairs secretary O.K. Dabidin at the company’s transport aircraft division at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
“The ALH Mk III is a multi-role, multi-mission versatile helicopter in 5.5 tonne category. It has proven its mettle in multi-utility role, including life-saving missions during natural calamities in India and abroad,” said the statement.
The company produced 335 ALHs over the last two decades for military and civilian operations. It also provides technical assistance and product support to its customers.
Designed, developed and produced by HAL primarily for the Indian defence services, the twin-engine, multi-role and multi-mission chopper in skid and wheeled version, its variants have also been certified for civil operations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)./eom/200 words.
