In an interaction with N V Vijayakumar, 3C3 India Pvt Ltd Managing Director and Promoter Murugesan R explains how the company is taking head-on Digital India led market demand amid Covid-19 pandemic.
India is going through a massive infrastructure shift in its history. This is amply evident in the Digital India campaign and new investments happening in the country. Can you elaborate on how 3C3 is looking at this opportunity?
According to the ‘Industry ARC’ 2020 report, the industry analysis and forecast report, states that the structured cabling market size is poised to grow at CAGR of 9% during the forecast period 2020-2025, and is projected to reach $20.15 billion by 2025.
As the world is transitioning itself into a complete digital array, most of the businesses set up, both locally and globally are investing in new-age structured cabling, such as the copper cabling to connect the various terminals, fiber optics to connect the servers with the data centres and to constantly and persistently support their internal networking operations.
Increasing end-to-end connectivity across network components and technological advancements in IT equipment are expected to drive structured cabling market growth. Cloud connectivity, IoT technology, and automation are some of the major technological trends, which are experiencing high adoption in several sectors due to the current pandemic. With a rise in the adoption of these advanced technologies in industrial segments, cabling infrastructure of the IT devices is becoming more complex.
3C3 is a Make in India initiative having its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru and making quality products and solutions. One of the core reasons for us to set up the facility in India is because we don’t want Indian companies to find the need to import products when they can get the best quality here in India itself. 3C3 has already set a footprint in the UAE & Singapore, and is looking forward to expanding to more countries in the coming days.
Since network cabling products for all industry segments are registering high growth what is the strategy of 3C3 going forward?
Technological advancements and innovations in IT infrastructure devices account for the complexity in the arrangement of cables and their connectivity to the devices. Most players operating in the structured cabling market are developing effective cabling solutions that can reduce such complexities and assist operators in understanding device connections and their networking. It helps improve data transmission rates and accuracy at a faster speed.
For 3C3, there is a significant brand acceptance across verticals and geographies. Since the brand is gaining more visibility, the company started tapping opportunities across the overseas market as well. We are enhancing our product portfolio to meet the upcoming DC standards and will be a part of the Digital India initiative. We have recently opened sales offices in Singapore and the UAE. Plans are on the table to extend its footprint to a few other countries. Today, we have customers across enterprises (PSUs and Govt. sectors), telecom service providers, cloud service providers, smart cities, and realty sectors. Going forward, we are planning to expand our business to more countries around the globe.

IoT and Smart cities cabling solutions are now big business verticals for any cabling company. How do you want to position 3C3 India in this regard?
3C3 India is capable of developing new products as per the industry standards through its R&D centre in Bengaluru. We developed innovative products within a short time for FTTx solutions and data centre solutions. The brand is well-appreciated & accepted in all industry verticals and is capable of meeting IoT & Smart City cable requirements. We take pride in positioning ourselves as a Make in India brand, making products & solutions for India and the world.
Indian and overseas companies are setting up data centres in India as the country is having stringent data localisation efforts. How do you view this opportunity?
There’s a massive explosion in data being generated by connected internet users in India. According to a report by a well-known real estate and infrastructure consultancy, the size of the digital population in India presents a huge potential demand for data centre infrastructure.
Digital data in India was around 40,000 petabytes in 2010; it is likely to shoot up to 2.3 million petabytes by 2020 — twice as fast as the global rate. With the pandemic, this is set to spike. If India houses all this data, it will become the second-largest investor in the data centre market and the fifth-largest data centre market by 2050, the consultancy has forecasted.
For 3C3 India, the data centre market is an excellent opportunity to serve the customers with the best quality products. The need for higher bandwidth, high-speed, and lower installation costs are amongst the areas most of the digital workforce are looking for. We leverage this opportunity in the Indian market and are serving/ addressing with our unique products like Pre-terminated copper & fiber HD cable assemblies, Traceable patch cords both in Copper & Fiber, HD panels, etc.
What makes 3C3 Data centre turn key solutions unique in the market compared with other competitors?
Our R&D has done an extensive study on the cables and connectors which suits 100Gig to 400Gig requirements. The low loss connectors and the termination technology with stringent quality control measures adopted in our manufacturing plant makes the products much superior in this category. It is evident from the fact that the company has bagged a few large data centre projects in the banking & IT space.
How well are your installation,testing tools and training modules work in tandem with customers?
Our roadmap for 2020 includes a vertical focused approach, technology integrations, and marketplace adoption. To accommodate these plans in the Indian market, we are expanding in terms of our workforce to support our partner communities and customers. 3C3 India has also made significant investments in improving its workplace infrastructure in the country. We have further plans of expanding our Bengaluru facility to a larger area along with setting up a customer experience centres

What is the capacity utilisation of the company? Do you have any game plan to expand the manufacturing facility with more CAPEX investment?
Over the years, we have strengthened our operation flexibility, acceptability of the products, and ramped up our production capacity to cater to the needs of the domestic as well as international orders. The government’s flagship initiative – ‘Make in India’ and recently announced ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ helps us gain momentum over the products imported from cheap sources. Overall, the Indian market conditions are favourable for manufacturers like 3C3 India. As we are growing fast in the market, we are planning to expand our manufacturing facility in the coming days in the new plot allotted by the government industrial board with increased manpower and increased assembly lines.
