6th Edition Of India Steel 2025 At Mumbai To Fuel Vision 2047



Mumbai / New Delhi, NFAPost: India Steel 2025, the 6th edition of the international exhibition cum conference on the steel industry, will be organised from 24th to 26th April, 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

India Steel 2025 is a joint event with the Union Ministry of Steel and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). India is the world’s second-largest producer of crude steel with a production capacity of 179 MT.

Besides helping stakeholders to meet and transact business and interact with each other, India Steel 2025 would serve as a platform for highlighting the current trends, developments, challenges, future prospects and Vision 2047 through various sessions.

Policy makers and industrialists can interact with potential investors and buyers to explore business opportunities, promoting investments, industrial development and employment generation.

Speaking on the India Steel 2025, Ministry of Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach and India’s pivotal role in global steel production and consumption. He stated:

“India’s steel demand is growing at a rate of 9% to 10%, the highest among major global economies. The industry stands at a crucial juncture, with significant advancements in green steel production and sustainability initiatives on the horizon. Strategic global partnerships will create new avenues for collaboration in raw material sourcing, technological innovation, and industry expansion,” said Ministry of Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik.

“This initiative underscores strong commitment to industry growth, innovation and global competitiveness. All relevant stakeholders were encouraged to actively participate and contribute to discussions that will shape the future of steel sector,” said Ministry of Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik.

According to Arvian Research, for April-October 2024, India’s crude steel production stood at 85.40 million tonnes, while finished steel production was 82.81 million tonnes.

“The total steel consumption during this period reached 85.70 million tonnes, reflecting strong demand across various sectors. On the trade front, steel exports were recorded at 2.753 million tonnes, whereas imports stood significantly higher at 5.768 million tonnes. Consequently, the steel sector has been a major contributor to India’s manufacturing output,” states Arvian Research.

Arvian research also highlights that the Indian steel industry’s growth, particularly between 2019 and 2024, has been notable. “During this period, India’s steel output expanded at an impressive 6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), significantly outpacing China’s 1% and outshining global steel production, which saw a 1% decline,” said Arvian Research.

“As the second-largest producer of steel globally, India’s crude steel production in 2025 has already reached 85.40 million tonnes, demonstrating a consistent growth pattern. The rising demand in key sectors such as construction, infrastructure, and automotive has further fueled this growth, with domestic steel consumption standing at 82.81 million tonnes in the same period. With the government’s clear vision through initiatives like the National Steel Policy 2017, the sector aims to ramp up production to 300 million tonnes by 2030, strengthening India’s global leadership position,” said M/S Aargee Steel Inc owner Pankaj Garg.

He also pointed out that technological advancements and an increasing focus on high-quality, value-added steel products have positioned the Indian steel industry for long-term success. The sector’s commitment to innovation is evident in its rising export numbers, driven by the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, he pointed out.

“As India progresses toward its Vision 2047, the steel industry is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the country’s growth, with the government continuing to provide critical support, from infrastructure development to fiscal policies that enhance competitiveness in both domestic and international markets,” said M/S Aargee Steel Inc owner Pankaj Garg.
