Innovation Summit in Bengaluru Focuses on Building a Resilient, Sustainable, and Inclusive India
Bengaluru, NFAPost: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Karnataka Department of Information Technology & Biotechnology (ITBT) unveiled the Karnataka CleanTech Startup Accelerator during the 20th edition of CII’s flagship India Innovation Summit, INNOVERGE 2024.
The summit, inaugurated by Mr. Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, highlighted Karnataka’s ambitious vision to become a $1 trillion economy through innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kharge emphasized, “Karnataka’s journey towards a $1 trillion economy is built on inclusivity and innovation. Through the establishment of Centers of Excellence in Mangalore, Hubballi, and Belagavi, and support for women-led startups that have raised $10.8 billion, we are fostering an ecosystem where groundbreaking ideas can thrive.”
Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President of CII and Co-Founder of Infosys, called on industry leaders to increase R&D investments and enhance collaboration with innovation companies to transform India into a product-focused nation. He also urged the integration of industry R&D within academic Centers of Excellence to foster innovation and incubation.
The theme of INNOVERGE 2024, “India @100: Building for a Resilient, Sustainable & Inclusive Future,” inspired discussions around disruptive innovations across sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, energy transition, and space. Industry leaders, including Mrs. Geetanjali Vikram Kirloskar, Chairperson of Kirloskar Systems, and Mr. Kamal Bali, President & MD of Volvo Group India, emphasized the importance of aligning innovation with sustainability and inclusivity.
The three-day summit highlighted Karnataka’s leadership in driving technological advancements and strategic partnerships, underscoring India’s growing role as a global innovation hub.
