Bengaluru, NFAPost: The Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB), the largest Rotary Club in India with 334 members, has decided to install solar panels to power 90 primary health care centres in rural Karnataka.
The decision of the Rotary Club of Bangalore comes as part of the 90th-year celebration. The Rotary Club of Bangalore had a humble beginning in 1934 with limited membership.
Commenting on the initiative, Rotary Club of Bangalore President Gowri Oza said the new move comes when she assumes office as the 90th President of this prestigious club.
“To commemorate our 90 years of service to the community, we have decided to install 90 solar panels. This year 24 – 25 solar palens will be installed 90 Rural Primary Health Centres in Karnataka with solar energy,” said Rotary Club of Bangalore President Gowri Oza.
According to the Rotary Club of Bangalore Immediate Past President Rtn Girish Ramanathan said the total outlay on this project will be Rs. 2.7 crores.
“Rotary Club of Bangalore is known for its healthcare and education intervention in the state of Karnataka. As part of the capacity building of primary health centres, we will focus on the labour room, vaccine freezers and the laboratory. Other regular projects will go on as usual,” said Rotary Club of Bangalore Rtn Girish Ramanathan.
Addressing a large gathering of Rotarians, families and well-wishers during the 90th-anniversary celebration, President Gowri Oza also announced that RCB will look at avenues which will help in creating great impact on women and children.
