The senior citizens who met under the leadership of Margret Rebello, Prof Kishore Koka Kuldeep Singh
Sai Prakash intercted with senior citizens and others on the grave situation in the country pointing out that there is a move toward bigotary which is dividing the country.
“It is a sad sate of affairs that equity and social justice required of a Welfare State seems more distant now than ever as the disparity in incomes and wealth is becoming more pronounced. 1% of Indians own 40% of wealth,” said senior citizen Sai Prakash while interacting with the audience.
Highlighting the current state of affairs, Margret Rebello said the the richest are working along with politicians to hijack the country into an oligarchy.
“As religion, money and politics are getting consolidated in one power block, India is going through a dangerous phase since its inception,” said Margret Rebello.
Prof Kishore Koka Kuldeep Singh said institutional frame work built over decades is sought to be dismantled to undermine Democracy.
“Words ‘Secular’ and ‘Socialist’ was in tune with the feeling of an overwhelming part of population when added to the Preamble and these two principles are enshrined in the spirit of the Constitution. Attempts to question this are mischievous,” said Prof Kishore Koka Kuldeep Singh.
The veteran citizens also requested voters to consider the above issues and decide in favour of candidates who are, and represent parties who will work towards an inclusive society.
