Why Kerala is attracting Students from across India for various programmes?
Kerala over the last decade not only has attracted Tourist from worldwide, but also large number of multinational companies are present in Kochi and Trivandrum. Kerala is a model state for Education in India for years with 100% literacy. Schools and Colleges, even in remote part of districts have good infrastructure and Teachers to impart Education.
The Academic ecosystem created over years is now benefitting, and has caught attention of Parents to come to Kerala for their kids higher Education. Kerala is a peaceful, harmonious state and the beautiful lush green environment, allows Students to focus on their Education and skills.
Being close to business cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore has an advantage for the employers to reach out to Institutions in Kerala, for their need of academic oriented and skilled employees in their Organisations. The accessibility and connect to the state by Trains, Buses and flights, life is become convenient for all the stakeholders.
What measures Institutions are doing to help Students?
Institutions are having faculty from across the country who can converse in multiple languages. Food of their region is served and special officer is deputed to look in to their issues immediately and guide them to make their life settled at the earliest. There is a committee consisting of students and faculty who interact often to address their all-round wellbeing.
Does individual Leadership influence an Organization? What is your philosophy of leadership?
“Delegating and empowering the ones I work with” Staff do look up to the senior Management team’s vision, their involvement and commitment that inspires their performance. So each individual leader must be aware of their influence on team.
My Leadership belief has always been people-centric. I have known my employees by name, in person, and very well know their abilities and their weakness. I believe that being an educational institution the faculty fraternity is the most valuable asset and I believe that we should work towards Faculty Development and empowerment.
At the same time, it should be aligned with proper work culture, an effective HR, and optimum Administrative support. My personal mission is to bring quality education to the grass root levels of the society.
What matters – real good Academic infrastructure or advertising of the institution?
“Students are our greatest ambassadors”. I believe that the Quality the institution offers, itself, is the greatest marketing quotient. Any good college generally is known for its Academic Infrastructure, Professors, Research and Entrepreneurial avenues Results and Placement. Creating Visibility and Creating Brand Value is of prime importance. Digital media is an important tool to create wider awareness, but the ultimate marketing is to mold a student into a responsible citizen with requisite skills and knowledge.
Nehru Group of Institutions has completed 50+ years and now stands tall with 21 Institutions, 18000 Plus students, 80 courses running across the institution with One Lakh Alumni to its credit. What do you think how Institution is accountable to the Students?
The slogan we propagate is TOGETHER WE CREATE YOUR FUTURE. Hence we feel it is the responsibility of the Institution to work towards the overall development of a student and achieve the aim of outcome-based education. We believe that the faculty working in the college should be empowered and assure career progression.
We will be soon achieving the Autonomy status that will help us to design our course as per the global industry needs. An institution is accountable to the Student’s and Society.
Can we know more about the service you are offering by establishing a world class Hospital?
I’m grateful to the God for giving me the strength to start P K Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital at Vaniamkulam, Palakkad district, Kerala. It is our Nehru Group of Institutions devotedness in fulfilling my late father’s dream of social development. We have established the 850-bed super specialty hospital with the singular aim of providing world-class healthcare to the masses at affordable rates. Named after my father, the institute is also an approved medical college offering top-quality MBBS and post-graduation courses.
Any specific advice you can share with current youth and the aspiring students?
Make use of the opportunities bestowed upon you. The present education system is going through a paradigm shift with the advent of the New Higher Education Policy.
There is a lot of flexibility for the students to select their courses as per their interest and passion which is unlikely in the yesteryears. This is an opportunity for the students to select their courses, span of the courses, electives as per their choice and interest so that they would be able to work in their field with interest and passion. This will make them ultimately happy both at their workplaces and also in their personal life.
