New Delhi, NFAPost: India confered the Padma Bhushan upon Young Liu, the esteemed Chairman and CEO of Hon Hai Technology Group, widely known as Foxconn.
India made the announcement on the eve of 75th Republic Day and thus Liu becomes the only foreigner to receive India’s prestigious third-highest civilian award.
The Padma Bhushan is a testament to Young Liu’s vision and commitment to advancing technology and fostering international collaborations.
Liu was among the 132 other Padma Bhushan awardees. The list was approved by President Droupadi Murmu on January 25, the eve of the 75 Republic Day.
Apart from Liu, Sitaram Jindal was also conferred the Padma Bhushan from the trade and industry field. Meanwhile, Kalpana Morparia and Shashi Soni were conferred the Padma Shri from the trade and industry field.
Since 2019, Liu is heading Foxconn and the company is the largest electronics manufacturer in the world. The company also owns the biggest iPhone factory in the world.
Liu has been the founder of three companies in the past — Young Micro Systems in 1988, IC design company in 1995, and ITeX in 1997.
Liu holds an MS degree in computer engineering in 1986 from the University of Southern California. Prior to this he completed his BS degree in Electrophysics in 1978 from Taiwan’s National Chiao Tung University.
