Key Stakeholders and Global Leaders Convene to Ignite Growth and Innovation in the ESDM Industry
Bengaluru, NFAPost: In a significant gathering of industry titans, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) recently concluded its 18th Vision Summit, held on January 24-25, 2024, at the Hilton in Bengaluru. Themed ‘Design Led Manufacturing – Leveraging the Semiconductor Ecosystem,’ the summit served as a melting pot for over 1000 delegates from 300+ companies, including top government officials, policymakers, and global industry leaders.
The summit witnessed the launch of the ‘Compendium of Semiconductor & ESDM Policies in India – 2024 Edition’ by Mr. S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Special addresses were delivered by Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Skill Development and Minister for State Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology, providing a valuable government perspective.
The event showcased multiple state pavilions, highlighting figures from deep tech, MSME, and startup ecosystems, with 80+ exhibitors presenting cutting-edge products, innovations, and embedded electronics solutions. Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of IESA, and Mr. Ashok Chandak, President of IESA, set the tone for the summit with welcome addresses.
The first day featured visionary keynotes from industry leaders like Mr. Sid Seth, CEO of d-Matrix, and Mr. Lars Reger, CTO at NXP Semiconductors. Notable announcements included the release of the comprehensive policy guide and presentations from government officials and industry leaders promoting their states as emerging destinations for ESDM.
Panel discussions on the first day explored ground-level developments in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, design and manufacturing trends, and the system solution approach to future product creations. The day concluded with the prestigious IESA Technovation Industry Awards ceremony.
The second day kicked off with keynotes on the role of design in manufacturing innovation, modernizing labs for maximum business value, and developments in wide bandgap compound semiconductors. A special session with Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar added a government perspective, emphasizing India’s ambition to become a notable player in global ESDM value chains.
Mr. V. Veerappan, Vice President of IESA, extended gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister of State, acknowledging government support for the ESDM sector. The day also included sessions on innovations in embedded electronics, the introduction of the IESA EU chapter and SemiX, and a panel discussion on synergizing talent development initiatives.
Reflecting on the event, Mr. Sanjay Gupta highlighted the pivotal role of design-led manufacturing in driving the industry’s growth. Mr. Ashok Chandak echoed this sentiment, emphasizing IESA’s commitment to advancing the ESDM sector’s growth and positioning India as a global hub for electronics and semiconductor excellence.
