It is customary for disciples to travel from the central ashram to the most important places only on rare occasions. However, this is the first trip to Chennai. Sishya Phujitha is a spiritual haven for thousands of devotees who visit Shandigiri Ashram in Pothankodu, Thiruvananthapuram every day.
Sishya Poojita was born in 1961 in Kallar Pattam Colony in Idukki District, Kerala as the first of four children of the late Chellappanpillai and Ratnamma. He was called by the name Radha when he was in Purva Ashram.
Joined Santhigiri Ashram at the age of nine. In 1984 he received Sannyasa Deeksha from Navajotis Sri Karunakara Guru and became a member of Gurudharma Prakasa Sabha.
On May 6, 1999, after the demise of Ashram founder Navajothi Srikarunakara Guru, Sishya Bhujitha, who was elevated to the spiritual headship, became a guru on February 22, 2001. Thereafter, Shishya Bhujitha, who has been running the ashram for 23 years under the Guru’s guidance, initiated about 100 disciples.
He performed kumbabhishekam in 20 ashrams across the country under Shandigiri Ashram. The world-famous Parnasala of the lotus flower at Santhigiri Ashram is based on the darshan experience of disciple Bhujita.
Sishya Bhujita’s pilgrimage to North India in 2009 and her pilgrimage to Delhi last December received national attention. Many dignitaries, including the Vice President, met and blessed Sishya Bhujitha.
With the arrival of Sishya Poojita, the silver jubilee celebrations of the Ashram, which marks a quarter of a century in the field of charity and service in Chennai, begin.
On Friday, Guru devotees are going to welcome Sishya Bojitha who will depart from Potankode Ashram at 10 am and reach Chennai Airport at 1.30 am.
After visiting devotees’ homes in Chennai, Sishya Poojita will visit the branch ashram at Cheyur in Chengalpattu district on January 6. Disciples, representatives, local people and devotees will welcome Sishya Phujitha who will arrive at the Ashram at 12 and she will be received with Purana Kumbha.
During this time, the atmosphere of the ashram becomes devotional with various musical chants. Sishya Poojita will stay at the ashram on January 6th and 7th and give darshan to all the devotees.
Tamil Nadu Speaker M Appavu will inaugurate the programme at 4 pm on the 6th January. State Minority Welfare Minister K S Mus will inaugurate the celebrations. Former Member of Parliament Subburaman Thirunavukarasu, Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Gnana Tapasvi and General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Gnana Tapasvi will attend the inaugural function.
Besides Indian Union Muslim League General Secretary K A M Abubakar, Father Thomas Isaac and Seiyur Gram Panchayat President Diwakar Raman, MDMK Deputy General Secretary Mallai CE Satya, the inaugural event will be graced by Chengalpattu District Panchayat Councilor Jayalakshmi Mahendran, Dr G R Kiran, sister A Mercy, K Nambirajan, D Babu, S Ilangovan and Sabir Thirumalai will be present.
On Sunday 7th January at 9 am, Gurusthan Sisya Bhujitha will light the lamp at Guru’s Dhyana Math and Darshan Mantra and lay the foundation stone for the silver ceremony complex. Dairy Development Minister Mano Thangaraj will inaugurate the public meeting at 11 am.
Kerala State Food and Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil will be the special guest. Ex-Governor of Mizoram Kummanam Rajasekaran, Panaiyur Babu MLA, Ex-MP will be participated in the event and presided over by Seyyur MP G. Selvam.

On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee, a free Siddha medical check-up and distribution of Siddha medicines will be organized by Thiruvananthapuram Chandigiri Siddha Medical College and Chennai National Institute of Siddha from 9 am to 2 pm. Famous actor Thalivasal Vijay will inaugurate this program. In the evening there will be a torch light procession and art performances.
