Kozhikode/Malappuram, NFAPost: The three-day Malappuram CBSE football championship for under 17/19 boys and common category girls, held at Mongam Little India Public School, concluded on November 24.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by General convenor and Little India School Principal Raseena Lathif and in the presence of LIPS Director Nadeem Kappan
In the boys under 19 category, Thiroor MES schools emerged winners. Noble Public School Manjeri and Straightpath, Panakkad came second and third respectively.
In the common category for girls, Peevees Nilamboor became the champion. Ezhs Manjeri and Ideal Kadakassery bagged second and third places respectively.
T V Ibrahim MLA presented trophies to the winners. Speaking at the inauguration of the event T V Ibrahim MLA praised LIPS for its efforts to promote football in Kerala.
“It is a reality that Kerala is witnessing a growing fan following for football as a sport. Here I am happy to find the contributions of LIPS and expect that more trendsetting tournament should come at the stadium to nurture talent,” said T V Ibrahim MLA.
In Under 19 boys’ competition – Hasa (MES Thiroor), in under 17 boys’ category – Shahul (MES Thiroor) and in girls’ competition – Ayisha Lehen (Pevees Model School, Nilamboor) were chosen as the best players.
Speaking at the event, LIPS Director Nadim Kappan said it is high time that Kerala football should get along with international clubs.
“LIPS will hold more international matches in future so that our players across Kerala get solid exposure to further fine tune their talent. LIPS will focus more time to make this happen at its stadium and conversations are going in the right direction,” said LIPS Director Nadim Kappan.
Gopika Thekkinthottathil, Sreeja Pradeep, Abbas Vadakkan, Anoof K Anas Areekkodu, Sadique, Alavikutty Faisi, Mujeeb Rehman, Shameena Sadique, Sadique Keeriyadan and Dhanya spoke on the occasion.
