Cupertino, NFAPost: In a high-octane ‘Scary Fast’ event on Tuesday, Apple took the tech world by storm, introducing a range of new Macs equipped with the latest iteration of its in-house chip. The star of the show was undoubtedly the M3 chip series, featuring the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max circuits, touted as the ‘first personal computer chips’ leveraging the advanced 3-nanometer technology.
According to Apple, the trio of chips not only boasts a ‘faster and more efficient CPU’ but also introduces an enhanced GPU capable of supporting ray tracing, mesh shading, and Dynamic Caching. The latter optimizes memory usage during tasks, showcasing Apple’s commitment to delivering top-tier performance.
The M3 processors support an impressive 128GB of unified memory, with the M3 Max chip standing out with a remarkable configuration of up to 92 billion transistors, a 40-core GPU, and a 16-core CPU.
The spotlight was on the revamped 24-inch iMac, now powered by the M3 chip, claiming to be twice as fast as its M1-equipped predecessor. The sleek device boasts a 4.5K retina display with over 1 billion colours, Wi-Fi 6E compatibility, and a 1080p webcam. Adding a touch of personalization, the iMac is available in seven vibrant colours: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver, accompanied by up to 24GB of unified memory. The colour-coordinated accessories, although featuring Lightning connectors, add a stylish touch to the ensemble.
Pricing for the 24-inch iMac starts at USD 1,299 for the eight-core processor variant and USD 1,499 for the ten-core processor model. Preorders are open, with availability slated for November 7th.
Expanding the M3 prowess beyond the iMac, Apple also unveiled two powerful MacBook Pro models, available in 14- and 16-inch configurations, featuring the M3 Pro or M3 Max processor. These laptops boast a Mini LED display, a high-quality 1080p camera, a six-speaker sound system, an impressive 22-hour battery life, and a whopping 128GB of RAM.
Available in silver and space black, with a new fingerprint-resistant coating, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro chip is priced at $1,999, while the 16-inch M3 Pro is available for $2,499. Preorders are currently open, with the official release date set for November 7th, marking a new era of high-performance computing for Apple enthusiasts.
