The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing the gathering presenting annual Export Excellence Awards
Bengaluru, NFAPost: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday assured that the government would frame an industrial policy encouraging exports.
Addressing the gathering at the state export excellent awarding event organised by Vishwesharaya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) of Karnataka Industries and Commerce Department at the Banquet hall in Vidhana Soudha he said that the government would focus on being industry-friendly and investment friendly.
“Industrial development will help to reduce unemployment by creating economic opportunities. The skill development department would be strengthened to ensure providing training to youth to make them more employable,” said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar called on industrialists to set up their enterprises in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
“This will enable even growth across the state. The government will encourage setting up industries in tier 2 and tier 3 cities by granting additional incentives and rebates. This will help to mitigate the woes of Bengaluru which is already overloaded with a huge 1.3 crore population,” Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also said that the government was considering establishing a dedicated NRI department as assured in the party manifesto.
Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil said that measures such as introducing transparency in the single window system, and speedy clearing of land acquisition dispute cases in KIADB have been given priority to facilitate the growth of industries.
“Karnataka government’s Single Window Clearance mechanism will be unique. Henceforth I assure all investors that their investment will be looked into with utmost care,” said Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil.
He claimed that MSME sector which generates more jobs will be given a boost by setting up CFCs (common facility centres).
A total of 68 industries under 12 categories were presented with excellent export awards for the years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. The state-level selection committee had received as many as 208 applications from across the state. The awardees included Biocon, HAL, Toyota Kirloskar, and GE India Pvt. Ltd, Mysore Paints & Varnish, and Gokaldas Exports among others.
Congress veteran and MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, Rizwan Arshad, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Govindaraju, Principal Secretary S Selva Kumar and Karnataka Indusrtries Department Commissioner Gunjan Krishna were present.
