Bengaluru, NFAPost: In an exciting leap towards its lunar destination, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully executed the fourth orbit-raising manoeuvre of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft from the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) on Thursday. This Earth-bound perigee firing marks a crucial milestone in the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which was launched on July 14.
According to ISRO’s headquarters, the next firing is scheduled for July 25, taking place between 2 pm and 3 pm. This propelling action comes as India celebrates International Moon Day 2023, bringing Chandrayaan-3 a significant step closer to the Moon.
During the inaugural address to the Space Science Technology & AwaReness Training (START) programme 2023, ISRO Chairman Somanath S expressed his confidence in the mission’s success. He stated, “…craft is on the way to the Moon. In another few days, it will go (the lander will soft-land on the Lunar surface).”
The Chairman also emphasized the scientific potential of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, expressing optimism that it will yield substantial findings for the realm of science. As anticipation grows, the world eagerly awaits the moment when Chandrayaan-3 will touch down on the lunar surface, making significant contributions to our understanding of the Moon.
