Bengaluru, NFAPost: The Space Economy Leaders Meet, held as part of the G20 Indian Presidency, commenced today in Bengaluru with a focused discussion on potential bilateral partnerships in the space economy. The event brought together prominent figures from space agencies, industries, and start-ups to explore collaborative opportunities in the sector.
Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), S Somanath, highlighted that the meeting delved into various aspects of cooperation, including partnerships between space agencies, industries, and start-ups. Additionally, participants deliberated on topics such as the establishment of a regulatory framework for space activities, guidelines for space missions, potential enhancements to the G20 Space Economy Leaders forum, and strategies for involving new countries in the space sector. The ISRO Chairman emphasized that the meeting extensively explored the overarching theme of the event, “Towards a New Space Era – Economy, Responsibility, and Alliance,” during the Heads of Space Agencies session.
The inaugural day of the Space Economy Leaders Meet witnessed active participation from 27 countries and 33 industries, effectively showcasing India’s capabilities in the space sector. As the event draws to a close tomorrow, the agenda will include a session on Space Industry partnerships, wherein Dr Pawan Kumar Goenka, Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), will deliver the opening remarks.
During this session, representatives from the G20 countries and invited nations will deliver statements on the theme, setting the stage for further collaboration. The concluding segment will feature a Space Business Connect session, comprising B2B meetings and presentations by industry representatives. Additionally, delegates will have the opportunity to visit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and other prominent space sector industries, while also enjoying cultural programs.
