Bengaluru, NFAPost: In a significant development, the National Security Advisor (NSA) of India, Ajit Doval, and his American counterpart, Jake Sullivan, revealed an ambitious roadmap for Indo-US collaboration in seven high-technology sectors. The announcement was made during the second Track-1.5 dialogue on the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
During their meeting, Doval and Sullivan also held restricted talks, addressing various bilateral and regional issues. Sullivan’s visit is of particular importance as it precedes the anticipated visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States later this month.
The two NSAs have been regularly engaging in discussions on areas of collaboration, which include Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, Defence, and Space.
Last year in May, President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly announced the establishment of the US-India iCET, aimed at strengthening the strategic technology partnership and defence industrial cooperation between the two nations.
The iCET is expected to foster closer ties between the governments, academia, and industries of both countries in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, 5G and 6G telecommunications, biotechnology, space technology, and semiconductors.
The unveiled roadmap marks a significant step forward in the technological collaboration between India and the United States. It lays the groundwork for joint efforts in critical sectors like semiconductor manufacturing, next-generation telecommunications, and defence technology. The initiative aims to leverage the strengths of both nations to achieve breakthroughs and propel technological advancements.
With the ever-increasing importance of emerging technologies in shaping global progress, Indo-US collaboration in these high-tech areas holds great promise. It not only enhances the strategic partnership between the two countries but also paves the way for significant advancements in sectors crucial to economic growth and national security.
The iCET will serve as a platform to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between governments, academia, and industry leaders, fostering innovation, research, and development in critical and emerging technologies. The closer linkages established through this initiative will undoubtedly contribute to the mutual growth and prosperity of India and the United States.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his visit to Washington, this roadmap for technological collaboration sets the stage for further strengthening the relationship between the two nations. The coming together of India and the United States in these cutting-edge fields underscores their shared commitment to harnessing technology for the betterment of their societies and the world at large.
