Bengaluru, NFAPost: Interweave Consulting, a prominent diversity consulting firm, is gearing up to organize a captivating evening of pride and inclusivity called “Rainbow Tales” at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) in Domlur, Bengaluru. The event, scheduled to commence at 5 pm, aims to shed light on the challenges faced by members of the LGBTQ+ community while promoting understanding and acceptance among individuals from all walks of life.
Founder and CEO of Interweave Consulting, Ms Nirmala Menon, emphasized the importance of active engagement from all individuals in the pursuit of building an inclusive society where everyone feels welcomed, accepted, and safe. “Rainbow Tales” is one of the organization’s many initiatives to bring diverse perspectives together under one roof, with the goal of raising awareness about the LGBTQ+ community’s struggles and fostering empathy for a more equitable future.
The event will feature a unique performance titled “Dance with The Queens—A dance medley” by Dancing Queens, India’s first transgender dance troupe. Through a captivating blend of folk dance, Bollywood tributes, and dance drama, the performers will showcase the lives of the transgender community and highlight the stigma faced by sexual and gender minorities in the country.
Accomplished poet and writer Rohini Venkatesh Malur, who is also a founding member of All Sorts of Queer (ASQ), will be present at the event. Malur, along with four queer poets, will captivate the audience with a performance titled “Eerie Queeries—Navigating the barriers between real and normal,” exploring the lives of the queer community.
Injecting humour into the evening, India’s first openly gay comedian, Navin Noronha, will take the stage with his act titled “Live and Gay.” Noronha will delve into topics such as queer dating, the challenges of coming out, finding love, and the acceptance of diverse identities and sexualities in India. Joining him in the act will be the host and stand-up comedian Joshua Trott.
Renowned drag artist Alex Mather will present “Thaalam,” a theatrical play aimed at addressing the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ+ community and empowering both community members and allies to speak out against abuse. “Thaalam” features three drag queens and a drag king, showcasing a queer family’s role in a society that often marginalizes queer individuals. The performance will incorporate elements from Bollywood, South Indian culture, and popular music, with the intention of delivering a powerful message to the audience.
