Land will be handed over to Foxconn by July 1, 2023: Minister MB Patil
Bengaluru, NFAPost: Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil on Thursday said that the Foxconn company has plans to start manufacturing iPhone units by 2024 April at its proposed Devanahalli plant and the state government would hand over the required land for the company by July 1 to facilitate the same.
Industries Minister stated this while the representatives of the company led by George Chu met him as part of the courtesy visit. IT/BT minister Priyanka Kharge was also present.
With this, the new government has speeded up the process of the Rs 13,600 crore project, which is expected to create 50,000 jobs.
“The identified 300 acres of land at ITIR of Devanahalli would be handed over by July 1, 2023. Along with this, the government would ensure providing 5 MLD of water, quality power supply, road connectivity, and other infrastructure facilities,” said Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil.
The Minister also said the company has been asked to provide the details of the skill sets it seeks in employees. “Accordingly, steps will be taken to facilitate training programmes for eligible candidates to make them employable,” Patil elaborated,” said Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil.
The Taiwan-based global company has already paid 30% of the cost towards the land (Rs. 90 crores) to KIADB. It has set the goal to complete the project in three faces and has set a target of manufacturing 20 million units (2 crore units) annually from the plant after the completion of three phases.

The Karnataka government was represented by Department of IT & BT Additional Chief Secretary EV Ramana Reddy, Commerce and Industries Principal Secretary T S Selva Kumar and Department of Commerce and Industries Commissioner Gunjan Krishna.
The delegation met the minister and senior officials at the Invest Karnataka Forum at the Khanija Bhavan.
