Bengaluru, NFAPost: Amidst reported tussle between M B Patil and Priyank Kharge over a plum portfolio, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah shed his additional responsibilities and reallocated them to the “sparring” ministers.
M B Patil, who previously served as the Minister for Large and Medium Industries, has been allocated an additional portfolio of Infrastructure Development.
Priyank Kharge, who formerly held the position of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, has now been entrusted with the crucial Information Technology (IT) and Biotechnology (BT) portfolio.
These portfolios, which were retained by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, have been reallocated to Patil and Priyank Kharge.
This decision came in the wake of reported Patil-Kharge spar over getting IT-BT portfolio for themselves, with Patil arguing that it should be allocated to him as IT and BT sector falls under the industries ministry, and Priyank Kharge arguing that he had held this portfolio in the erstwhile Congress government.
The stalemate was ended by Siddaramaiah who allocated this ministry to himself, but today he reallocated it to Priyank Kharge.
The notification in this regard was issued by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot upon Siddaramaiah’s advice.
Priyank Kharge was instrumental in starting Elevate Karnataka programme among others.
