Bengaluru, NFAPost: GreenLine, the pioneering LNG-fueled heavy trucking logistics company in India, has recently announced its partnership with Nestle’s Sanand facility to deploy LNG-powered containers. This collaboration aligns with Nestlé India’s sustainability goals, aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of its logistics operations.
GreenLine has developed innovative 46-feet long containers specifically for this purpose, which will be used to transport Maggi noodles from Nestlé’s factory in Sanand, Gujarat, to Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. By utilizing LNG-powered containers, GreenLine’s fleet significantly reduces toxic emissions in comparison to diesel-powered vehicles. This includes a reduction of up to 30% in Carbon Dioxide emissions, up to 100% in Sulphur Oxides emissions, up to 59% in Nitrogen Oxides emissions, up to 70% in Carbon Monoxide emissions, and up to 91% in Particulate Matter emissions.
In line with Nestle’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, the adoption of GreenLine’s larger 55MT, 46-feet containers replace smaller diesel-powered 20MT vehicles, resulting in a substantial reduction in the number of vehicles required. This, combined with the emissions reduction achieved through LNG-powered containers, contributes to Nestle’s environmental objectives and enhances its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance.
Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine, expressed excitement about the partnership with Nestlé India and their joint efforts to reduce emissions through innovative green mobility solutions. This collaboration signifies a significant milestone in the adoption of eco-friendly logistics by consumer goods companies in India. GreenLine anticipates that other industry leaders will follow suit and adopt their green mobility solutions, empowering them to enhance their ESG performance, foster a cleaner environment, and pave the way for a sustainable future.
Sanjay Khajuria, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé India, commented on the initiative, stating that they are accelerating their sustainability initiatives and are committed to achieving net-zero emissions. By utilizing different modes of transportation and alternative fuels, as well as larger vehicles to optimize capacity utilization, Nestlé aims to achieve its sustainability objectives. The association with GreenLine is expected to contribute to these goals.
Having already made strides in green logistics for cement and steel, GreenLine is now introducing the superior capabilities of LNG-powered containers to revolutionize transportation in the consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and express cargo sectors.
