Teja Chekuri, an India-based global entrepreneur, has recently made a significant acquisition in the United States. Through his company Golden Horn Group, Chekuri has purchased nine Dunkin franchisees for $18 million. Dunkin’ Donuts LLC, also known as Dunkin, is a renowned American multinational coffee and doughnut company and one of the largest coffee and donut chains worldwide. Founded by Bill Rosenberg in 1950, the company’s headquarters are located in Canton, Massachusetts. Dunkin offers a diverse range of products, including donuts, bagels, coffee, and “Munchkins” donut holes.
Currently, Dunkin operates 13,000 franchisees globally, with nine of them located in Sharon, Hanover, Weymouth, Braintree, and Quincy in Massachusetts. These nine franchises are now owned by the Golden Horn Group and will be operated under OM Network LLC.
Teja Chekuri expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “This is a historic move for our company as acquiring a Dunkin’ franchisee is extremely challenging. They have set a remarkable benchmark of growth in the industry, and achieving that level of progress is truly inspiring. Becoming an official Dunkin’ franchisee allows us to lead the brand towards new avenues of growth. Starting with nine Dunkin’ stores in and around Boston, Massachusetts today, our goal is to reach 150 outlets across multiple cities in the US within the next five years. To achieve this, we are currently strengthening our backend systems to facilitate faster growth. Leveraging our expertise in establishing international concepts in the global restaurant industry, we aim to contribute to the vibrancy and expansion of the Dunkin’ brand as we restructure our teams to pursue this target.”
The official approval for this acquisition from Dunkin’ took nearly two years, and the ownership transition process will be thorough, and expected to be completed within 6-8 months.
