Lucknow, NFAPost: The Uttar Pradesh government is aiming to transform Ayodhya into a global tourism hotspot by investing Rs 30,000 crore under the ‘Ayodhya Vision 2047’ theme.
The development plans include around 260 initiatives covering tourism, aviation, infrastructure, housing, medical, energy, culture, urban improvement, transport and more. The state government plans to jointly fund these initiatives with the central government.
One of the most significant projects is the creation of a theme park called ‘Ramaland,’ inspired by Disneyland, to narrate the story of Lord Ram. The park aims to showcase the legendary tales from Ramayan while providing an educational and entertaining experience for both children and adults.
The government is also planning to launch a river Saryu cruise in the coming months, along with setting up six grandiose arched gateways at the roads leading to Ayodhya from other districts. These gateways will be named after characters from Ramayan and will comprise tourism facilities such as yoga centres, food courts, dormitories, etc.
Furthermore, private hotel chains are in talks with the erstwhile royal family of Ayodhya to convert palaces into heritage properties to offer a regal experience to discerning tourists and backpackers.
The ongoing and proposed projects in Ayodhya are being expedited as the construction of the Lord Ram temple is nearing completion. The proposed Ayodhya international airport is also under development and is expected to catalyze the metamorphosis of the spiritual city into a major tourism hub in India.
The Deepotsav festival celebrated with grandeur and opulence in Ayodhya during Diwali, has also earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for lighting the largest number of earthen lamps (diyas) in successive Diwali. All of these developments are expected to make Ayodhya a must-visit destination for tourists from around the world.
