New Delhi, NFAPost: Vodafone Idea has appointed Aditya Birla group chief Kumar Mangalam Birla as an additional non-executive and non-independent director. With this development, Birla returns to the company’s board after two years.
Kumar Mangalam Birlastepped down as non-executive chairman and director of Vodafone Idea in August 2021.
“The Board of Directors of the company has, at its meeting held today, appointed Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, as an Additional Director (Non-Executive and Non-Independent) with effect from 20 April 2023,” Vodafone Idea said in an exchange filing.
Birla was also a director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India and the chairperson of the SEBI committee on corporate governance, according to the filing. He also served as chairperson of the advisory committee, constituted by the Ministry of Company Affairs and served on the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Trade and Industry.
Earlier in the day, the telecom company said Krishna Kishore Maheshwari had quit as a non-executive director, citing personal reasons. Maheshwari came on the board of Vodafone Idea on March 3, 2022 as an additional director (non-executive and non-independent).
