New Delhi, NFAPost: NXP Semiconductors CEO Kurt Sievers met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office.
According to NXP Semiconductors officials, the meeting was primarily to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem, develop STEM workforce and startup ecosystem in India.
“We’re committed to driving innovation and positive change through our tech solutions,” said NXP officials after the meeting.
The arrival of NXP Semiconductors comes close on the heels of Foxconn leadership visit to New Delhi along with other state capital. Indian government has come up Semiconductor Policy to fuel the growth of electronic industry, primarily to pave the way for setting up semiconductor fabs in the country.
After meeting NXP Semiconductors CEO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted stated his happiness to Kurt Sievers.
“We discussed the transformative landscape in the world of semiconductors and innovation. India is emerging as a key force in these sectors, powered by our talented youth,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Originally spun off from Philips in 2006, NXP Semiconductors is a Dutch semiconductor designer and manufacturer. NXP provides technology solutions targeting the automotive, industrial & IoT, mobile, and communication infrastructure markets. The company owns over 9,500 patent families.
NXP is the co-inventor of near field communication (NFC) technology along with Sony and Inside Secure and supplies NFC chip sets that enable mobile phones to be used to pay for goods, and store and exchange data securely.
The company also manufactures chips for eGovernment applications such as electronic passports; RFID tags and labels; and transport and access management, with the chip set and contactless card for MIFARE used by many major public transit systems worldwide.
