Bengaluru, NFAPost: As part of India’s ambition in becoming the global semiconductor hub and nurturing the chip design and manufacturing ecosystem, the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) is organising SemiconIndia: Future Design roadshow at IISc, Bengaluru on 24th February.
As part of the one day event, eminent names from industry associations, research organisations, academia and industry are set to articulate opportunities, challenges and innovative solutions that will help accelerate the growth of the semicon ecosystem in India.
The conference is being steered under the able guidance of Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Railways and Communication Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Rajeev
Chandrasekhar.
Commenting on the event, VLSI President and EPIC Foundation CEO Dr Satya Gupta said the event is happening at a time when India’s Semiconductor Policy, 2022 has created a holistic enabling environment for development of semiconductor talent products, IPs, manufacturing and research to position the India as a vibrant semiconductor chip design & manufacturing ecosystem in the world.
“With an exceptional talent pool of 20% of world’s semiconductor design engineers and thousands of chips designed by them every year in the country, India is poised for transformation from “Chip Taker to Chip Maker”. Government of India’s SemiconIndia future Design initiative is one of critical pillar for encouraging growth of future semiconductor designers & product & IP companies to achieve self-reliance and technology leadership in semiconductors.” said VLSI President and EPIC Foundation CEO Satya Gupta.
Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) has announced the SemiconIndia:Future Design Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme to offset the disabilities in the domestic industry involved in semiconductor design in order to not only move up in value-chain but also strengthen the semiconductor chip design ecosystem in the country.
CDAC is responsible for implementation of the DLI Scheme as Nodal Agency. The details of DLI Scheme are at https://chips-dli.gov.in/DLI.
According to Arvian Research, the Bengluru event is aimed at stimulating the next-gen Semiconductor Designers.
“It is expected to promote the culture of Co-development and joint ownership of IPs with active industry participation. Also, the event will further fuel India’s ambition to indigenously develop semiconductor chips for automobile, mobility, communication and computing purposes,” said Arvian Research.
