Amaravati/Mumbai, NFAPost: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday dispatched Industries Minister Gudivada Amaranath to Mumbai to personally invite India’s top industrialists to attend the forthcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS).
Accompanied by top officials, Andhra Pradesh Industries Minister Gudivada Amaranath met Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra and chairman of the board of Tata Sons N. Chandrasekaran, leading industry captains who manage several multinational firms worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
The crucial investors summit is scheduled during March 3 – 4 at Visakhapatnam, AP’s largest city to which Reddy announced that he would move soon to set up the executive capital as part of his three capitals strategy.
Determined to make the GIS a success, the Chief Minister is now tapping into India’s industry captains and corporate leaders to attract investments to an agrarian state set back industrially by the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
This outreach development comes within a week’s time of Reddy himself personally reaching out to several top investors and diplomats in the national capital Delhi through a curtain raiser event for the summit, a sign of a state parched of investments and jobs with the loss of Hyderabad metropolis to Telangana.
Amarnath, who also handles the portfolios of IT, infrastructure, investment and commerce showcased the potential of the coastal state located in South India and explained that AP has consistently ranked number one for ease of doing business.
Srijana Gummalla, director of industries, vice chairman and managing director of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure corporation (APIIC) and chief executive of APEDB, also accompanied Industries Minister Gudivada Amaranath.
Besides these outreach efforts, the southern state has also planned a slew of road shows in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad to hard sell the state.
