The 7th Edition of BSX 2022 is organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the lndian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The event in association with Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACE) and NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and is scheduled from 5, 6 & 7 September 2022 at BIEC in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru, NFAPost: As part of the combined efforts to further enhance India’s space prowess, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the lndian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is organising three day biennial international exhibition and conference the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2022 in the city starting on 5th September.
The 7th Edition of BSX 2022, organised in association with Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACE) and NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is scheduled from 5 – 7 September 2022 at BIEC in Bengaluru.
The theme of the conference is ‘Nurturing the NewSpace in India’. The Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2022 will have exhibition participation from over 100 companies/organisations from around 15 countries, showcasing advanced technologies and products for the space sector, in an exclusive hall.
The event is taking place at a time when there is a heighted competition to harness space technology for geopolitical advantage and other countries are questioning the US supremacy. Also, there is a concerted efforts from the government of India in enhancing private sector participation in Space sector. Global Space economy is valued at $370 Billion in 2021 and is expected to reach $642 billion by 2030 with CAGR of 6.3%, as per the findings by renowned consulting firm EuroConsult.
According to ISRO officials, the organisation will be putting up a large Pavilion, along with its various Centres in India, at the exhibition to highlight India’s achievements in the space sector and future business opportunities for the private sector in this area. Officials from various ISRO Centres across India, will be available during the three days event at BSX 2022 to interact with stakeholders exploring future business partnerships with ISRO.
Besides the exclusive Exhibition, the three-day event will have a concurrent International Conference, with the theme, ‘Nurturing the NewSpace in India’ and would provide an ideal platform to Indian and International space agencies and companies in this sector, to showcase their strength & capabilities in the space arena; network and explore the opportunities of partnerships.
Talking to NFAPost, CII officials said Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2022 will have Australia as a Country Partner, UK as a Focus Country and the Netherlands as a Guest Country.
“The three-day international conference would provide an ideal platform to Indian and International space agencies to interact, share their strength in the space arena and explore the opportunities of partnerships. The conference will also highlight on the initiatives taken by Indian government to encourage & engage Indian Industry in space sector and international space agencies in the space sector,” states the CII official.
The inaugural session would be graced by the presence of Shri S. Somanath, Chairman, ISRO, Secretary, Department of Space, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center and Dr. D Radhakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
Commenting on the relevance of the event, Arvian Research said the space sector in India has been undergoing a considerable transformation with the de-regulation and opening-up of Space sector for the private sector.
“India’s space sector has made tremendous growth over the decade even though the country accounts for about 2% of global space economy. Our advances in space programmes have been highly remarkable, with vigorous and determined efforts led by ISRO along with other key government entities and private players. This is further fueled by contributions from startups and MSMEs in the country,” said Arvian Research.
Besides discussing current scenario, policies, challenges and way forward, the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2022 will also session on topics like the rise of India’s private space sector and new business opportunities, driving India’s space sector through startup ecosystem, Earth Observation Applications- Emerging trend, opportunities and enabling technologies, Enhancing Space Transportation Technological Capabilities and Research –a new paradigm and Satellite communications- Emerging Trends, Technologies, Opportunities & Issues.
The event also will discuss on human spaceflight and space exploration missions. Also, international collaborations in space sector- towards sustainable development.
In recent years, it has been seen that ISRO is ramping up its efforts to create a sustainable space ecosystem, and at the same time encourage collaboration and partnerships with the private sector industries and start-ups. Moreover, efforts have been put in towards revising the space policies including the FDI policy by the Government for the space sector to spur the growth of private sectors, increase industry’s share in the Indian Space and global space market.
Further, India as of now has launched the 114 Spacecraft Missions including 3 nano satellites, 1 micro satellite, 83 launch missions including Scramjet-TD, RLV-TD and Crew Escape System;13 Student Satellites; 2 Re-entry Missions and 342 Foreign Satellites of 34 countries. There are approximately 500 private companies operating in the space technology sector in India. The Indian Space-tech startup ecosystem is also booming, with over 100 active Indian space-tech startups.
