Three-day visit to Japan was focussed on inviting companies for Global Investors Meet
Tokyo, NFAPost: The Karnataka delegation led by Minister for Large & Medium Industries Minister Dr. Murugesh R. Nirani concluded its three-day visit to the Japan. As a part of the international roadshow for the Global Investors Meet (GIM) scheduled on November 2,3 & 4, the delegation was here to seek investments and to extend a formal invitation to the Japanese companies.
The delegation comprising Minister Nirani and Commissioner for Industrial Development Gunjan Krishna met the representatives of Toyota, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Mitsui, Mercury, JETRO, Hitachi, Fujitsu Limited, and NEC Corporation at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo on Monday and Tuesday.
The Minister presented the industry-friendly policies of the state and showcased Karnataka as an ideal destination for Japanese manufacturing companies. He said the industries department has proposed a separate “Japanese township” on nearly 600-acre plot in Tumakuru. Besides the township, a land bank of 50,000 acres have been earmarked for industrial development.
“Karnataka had attracted maximum number of FDI among all the states and the environment is conducive for the big Japanese investments. It is important to highlight the fact that state was in the top achiever category in the “Ease of Doing Business” (EoDB) released by the Centre recently,” said Karnataka Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani.
Representing the Embassy of India, Deputy Chief of Mission Mayank Joshi and First Secretary (Commerce) Manoj Singh Negi also participated in the meetings.

Toyota Motor Corporation:

Suzuki Motor Corporation:
Suzuki Motor Corporation was represented by Mr. Hidaki Taguchi, General Manager India Automobile Dept; Kenji Saito, Director & Senior Managing Officer, and Kazuhiro Hattori Assistant Manager Public Affairs Group. Suzuki Motor Corporation is a leading Japanese automotive company, manufacturing products primarily in the land mobility and marine segments
Mitsui Company:
Mitsui & Co, one of the largest general trading companies in Japan, has 16 business units including – Mineral & Metal Resources, Energy, Materials, Iron & Steel products, Food & Agriculture, Retail, and IT & Communication. Mitsui has 129 offices across 63 countries and regions. Mr. Syed Faisal Ashraf, Managing Director, and Mr. Yu Deputy Managing Director of Mitsui were present at the meeting.
Mercari:
Mercari is a Japanese e-commerce company and its main product is the Mercari marketplace app, which allows users to buy and sell items quickly from their smartphones. In addition to its core businesses, Mercari has launched new businesses namely, Mercoin Inc, its crypto-asset and blockchain business, and its logistics service Merlogi, Inc. Mr. Ken Wakasa, CTO of Mercari Inc, and Mr. Junichi Wozaki, Board Director, Mercari were present.
JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation):
JETRO works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. JETRO was represented by Mr. Kazuhiko Obama, Senior Director for Global Strategy, Southwest Asia, and Mr. Kazuya Nakajo, Executive Vice President.
The Fujitsu Limited:
Fujitsu Limited is a Japanese multinational information and communications technology services provider with around 130,000 employees supporting customers across 180 countries. The Fujitsu Limited was represented by Vivek Mahajan, Corporate Executive Officer; Ken Toyoda, Corporate Executive Officer (Research Management Centre) and Jungo Okai, chief of staff were present.
