New Delhi, NFAPost: The last date for linking the Permanent Account Number with Aadhaar was June 30, and the failure to do so will result in a double penalty of Rs 1,000 from today onwards.
The Centre already extended the deadline till March 31 earlier, after which, the Central Board of Direct Taxes had notified that those who link PAN and Aadhaar after March 31 and by June 30, 2022, will have to pay a penalty fee of Rs 500.
If one wants to link their PAN Aadhaar now, they will have to pay the penalty of Rs 1,000. This can be done on the NSDL portal by paying the amount under Challan No. ITNS 280. Here is the process to Pay PAN Aadhaar Late Fees:
Visit the link https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp to go on with your Aadhaar PAN link request
Under the options available, proceed under Challan No. ITNS 280 to submit PAN-Aadhaar link request
Select the tax applicable from there
The payment should be done under Major head 0021 (Income Tax Other than Companies) and Minor head 500 (Other Receipts) in a single challan
You can either pay through net banking or credit card. Select your preferred mode and enter details
Enter your PAN, address and assessment year
Enter the Captcha and make payment
The payments made at the NSDL portal require some time to display at the income tax e-filing portal. People who want to link PAN-Aadhar should attempt raising their requests a few days after paying the fine.
