IT/BT Minister at ‘India First Tech Startup Conclave 2022, Karnataka Chapter’
He highlighted the importance of Karnataka/India to hold the world market and for that more and more IPRs need to be registered in the state or the country.
Bengaluru: Governments need to increase their spending on their budgets to about 20% to 30% to promote Intellectual Property Rights IPRs registered in Karnataka or India, said Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Wednesday.
Addressing at the ‘India First Tech Startup Conclave 2022, Karnataka Chapter’ organised by AICRA (All India Council for Robotics & Automation), he stated, that though Karnataka is the most preferred destination when they look at it in terms of relocation of companies, niche area development, R&D, the convergence of talent, etc, the same needs to be reflected in quantum of IPRs being registered in the state.
“Although we are at the forefront in technological development, we lag behind in owning the technology. That means we are toiling to create IPRs for the benefit of other countries. But if we want to have a hold on the world market we ourselves should own technology. To realise this more and more IPRs need to be registered in our state or the country,” said Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan.
Further, the minister noted, that for this to happen, respective state and union governments probably need to spend liberally, around 20% to 30% of their budgets on this.
“The education system of the country plays a crucial role in shaping the required skilled manpower. To ensure this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid emphasis on the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Aligning with the aspirations of the union government, Karnataka is in the forefront in implementing NEP in higher education,” said Karnataka IT/BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan.
Alaka Sachdeva, Vice President, AICRA was among those who were present.
